Study Implication of Sanitation and Hygiene on Polio Eradication Initiatives in High Risk Blocks in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar & Moradabad Districts

In some parts of Uttar Pradesh, the practice of using dry latrines and manual disposal of excreta is still prevalent, which leads to health and hygiene related issues. There is a view that, in addition to vaccination, hygiene has an important role in controlling the spread of polio.

TRIOs has conducted a study to assess the implications of sanitation and hygiene in Polio eradication initiatives in the high risk blocks of Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Moradabad districts.

As part of the proposed methodology for the study Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) survey was conducted in the sample households and FGDs were also conducted in 10 project blocks.

The study report including key findings, suggestions and recommendations for formulating further program strategies was submitted.
