Operational support to reducing deaths from childhood diarrhoea’ in Gujarat, India: Supportive Supervision and hand holding support to Childhood Diarrhoea Management Program in the state of Gujarat Phase II- Micronutrient Initiative (MI), India/ Canada.
MI in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat implemented the program, ‘Reducing deaths from childhood diarrhoea’ in Gujarat, India. The programme was aimed to reduce the mortality and morbidity from childhood diarrhoea by mainstreaming of therapeutic Zinc supplementation and oral rehydration. The programme undertook: Trainings, Supply Chain, Communication Tools, Program Monitoring and engagement of a dedicated cadre of supervisors, and support to them for effective supervision of the program.
TRIOs placed 26 Communication Officers at the block level for supportive supervision and handholding support. The support ensured better coverage and quality of the DAZT program and progressed well towards achieving the planned results of the health system in Gujarat.
