Mid line Study for the Project- Life Skills to Employability through Multi Skills Development Frame Work (MSDF) for Adolescents implemented in Patna, Bihar by Magic Bus India Foundation

Magic Bus India Foundation (MBIF) works with children and youth from marginalized communities. The programme is based on an activity-based curriculum that engages children and ensures that they make the right choices from childhood all the way through to better livelihoods as adults. Currently, the organization reaches more than 35 lakh children and 10 thousand youths in 22 states and 68 districts and over 3000 communities.

An adolescent entering into the world of work has to deal with many challenges .To deal with these challenges various life skills such as resilience and self-efficacy are required. These skills would enable them to engage better with these transitions, so that they can optimize their own potential and contribute positively to the society.

To achieve the journey of life skills to employability, Magic Bus under MSDF project implemented the life skill education program for adolescents (age group from 12 -16 years) in Patna district, Bihar.

After completion of first phase of program, now MBIF engaged TRIOs to conduct a midline study to measure the change brought about by the program in Knowledge and Practices of adolescents with respect to the particular life skills in past two years of program implementation.

The study is being carried out using longitudinal tracking approach and a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods. The adolescents who were covered under the baseline study would again be covered in mid line to assess the extent of change. As per scope of work, TRIOs will hire, train and deploy a qualified and experienced field team for data collection in the field using CAPI technique (android based Survey CTO application). The supervisory team will conduct the monitoring visits and quality checks during data collection phase. Based on the analysis of quantitative data and key findings the FGD checklists will be developed and qualitative information will be collected from community as well as adolescents. Apart from this to understand the level of preparedness of adolescents/ youths (aged18) for employment, the employability test, aspiration test and career interest test will also be conducted. The data analysis will be carried out with relevant statistical tests and report will be prepared and submitted by TRIOs.

The study findings and recommendations is expected to enable the Magic Bus team in fine-tuning the program implementation strategy for next two years.
