Formative research- Understanding the current BSM delivery mechanisms and strategies for Vitamin-A supplementation program in Bhopal City slums, Madhya Pradesh State- Micro nutrient initiative, India/Canada

MI was implementing the biannual Vitamin A supplementation (VAS) through ‘BalSurakshaMah’ aimed to focus its intervention to demonstrate strategies to ensure high coverage of Vitamin A.

Key processes included, conducting a formative research, mainly to identify program priorities and establish baseline information for the pilot project that could improve the coverage of bi-annual Vitamin A.

TRIOs enabled this in two phases:

  • First phase of the project involved Desk review to understand the ‘BalSurakshaMah‘ service delivery mechanisms and strategies for urban Bhopal

Second phase involved the qualitative and quantitative assessments. Mapping of available and required service delivery points for Vitamin A and a report containing the status of Vitamin A coverage in Bhopal urban slums, issues and needs for strengthening the service delivery points along with strategies
