Baseline Study for the ‘Transformation Initiative’through integration of education, nutrition, drinking water and sanitation interventions in South Rajasthan-Centre for microFinance (CmF)/ TATA Trust
Centre for microFinance (CmF), Jaipur (www.cmfraj.org) is a resource organization working in Rajasthan since 2007 to catalyze the growth of community-based microfinance and livelihoods sector in the state. CmF along with Tata Trusts and Govt. of Rajasthan (GoR) has launched a multi thematic five year development programme in South Rajasthan, Titled ‘Transformation Initiative’, the programme seeks to demonstrate proof of concept of transformational change in the quality of life of 3.5 lakh individuals of 70,000 tribal households in 4 blocks of South Rajasthan through integration of education, nutrition, drinking water and sanitation interventions.
TRIOs conducted the baseline study to assess and establish the benchmark for measuring the future impact of the project interventions. The CAPI (Computer Aided Personal Interviewing) based cross-sectional survey covered southern districts of Rajasthan.
TRIOs team designed the study (establishing study design, methods, and tools, sampling and field plan, Programming of the questionnaire and set up of e- data transfer protocol was done, Field teams were deployed and data collected. Documentation and report writing was completed in 4 months time. CmF used the study report for designing implementation strategy for achieving the goals. The document also served as a benchmark for measuring the impact of the project interventions
