Magic Bus India Foundation has initiated “Sport-For-Development” program for children at seven locations i.e. Rohtak (Haryana), Kasna (U.P.), Ankleshwar (Gujarat), Bhandup & Khandala (Maharashtra) , Patancheru (Telangana) and Sriperumbudur (Chennai) in India in 2014-15 with financial assistance of Asian Paints.
As part of the curriculum total 30 “Sports for Development” sessions are conducted on weekly basis for each children group using interesting games and activities. Besides school going as well as out of school children; the parents of children and local youth leaders are also covered under the program to ensure their involvement and overall environment building for project activities. The sessions covers thematic areas of Right to Education, the link between hygiene and disease prevention, making children better aware of themselves and others, and non-discrimination on basis of gender.
Magic Bus has assigned TRIOs to conduct the Midline Study to assess the improvement brought about by the program in “Knowledge, Attitude and Practices” of children and other stakeholders over a period of one year.The “Before-and-After-without Control” approach has been used in the study. As part of this a cross-sectional, community-based survey is being carried out at selected seven locations covering 6 states with target respondents including children, parents and youths. The key services proposed to be delivered by TRIOs under this assignment includes- Training of data collection team of all seven location, developing monitoring and quality assurance mechanism, data processing, data analysis and writing draft and final report with key recommendation for refinement of further program strategy ( wherever required).
