Dr Prachitha is a Development Economist with over 10 years of research experience on economic aspects of the development processes, including on methods of promoting economic development, economic growth and structural change. She has also worked on healthcare financing and has worked on research projects of varied topics at Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore, Karnataka Health System Resource Centre, Bangalore, IIT-Madras and at PROOF (Janaagraha), Bangalore. She has been Research Consultant for the evaluation of World Bank-funded Karnataka Health Systems Development and Reform Project at ISEC, Bangalore. She was Consultant for Health Economics and Financing at Karnataka State Health System Resource Centre, Government of Karnataka where she carried out research studies relating to expenditure patterns and financing mechanisms of the state. She was also involved in the processes of budget preparations under National Health Mission of the state. She has been Project Officer at IIT-Madras for a project that had examined the impact of public-private partnerships on the services sector.
Prachitha has expertise in developing research proposals, formulating research designs, statistical and econometric analyses and socio- economic impact assessments. She also has research publications to her credit in reputed national and international journals.
Prachitha has an M.S. in Development Economics from Pondicherry University and had secured a gold medal for her outstanding performance in the Master’s program. She then went on to pursue a doctoral degree in Development Economics from the Madras School of Economics (University of Madras).
