Mrs. Bawa has over three decades of professional experience working in urban, semi-urban and rural areas of northern India on a wide range of health issues.
She holds a Master degree in Journalism and Mass communication from Punjab University.
During her tenure with Department of Health and Family welfare, Government of Punjab, she was involved in IEC strategy planning, implementation and monitoring of health programs especially issues concerning Reproductive and Child Health, STD HIV AIDS, Tuberculosis and Blindness control.
Being the media head for the State of Punjab, she was responsible for the preparation and implementation of Communication plans, implementation strategies and monitoring in the state. Mrs. Bawa was the technical expert for health media related copy writing, translation, speech, article and feature writing, script writing for film spots and radio jingles. Mrs. Bawa was also involved in capacity building of Government functionaries as well as non- government stakeholders at various levels on health challenges. She has represented the State of Punjab in various forums and events at National level and organizations such as World Bank, WHO and UNICEF.
