Dr. Aravind brings over 28 years of work experience with public and private health systems. He has worked with the government, development partners and non-government organizations.
At TRIOs, apart from leading the organization, Aravind has led several key assignments that include Team Leader for several state and national level research and evaluations, Principal Investigator (India) with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to collaboratively undertake quantitative (Beneficiary Survey and Costing Study) and qualitative research (Case Studies and Impact Evaluation) using Ethnographic and observational methods on maternal healthcare social franchise services, Team Leader for one of the largest sample surveys – District Level SWASTH Survey (concurrent monitoring and end line evaluation of DFID supported SWASTH programme in Bihar) on health, WATSAN and nutrition services in all 38 districts, covering 345,000 respondents from 140,000 households, using CAPI technique and devices. It included anthropometric measurements of 42,000 children of 0-5 years of age and 7000 In-depth Interviews with Key stakeholders and functionaries. He has also led large capacity development programs for health and ICDS personnel in Gujarat and Bihar; State Resource Centre on MGNREGS at Gujarat; decentralized planning under the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) and market activation for use of zinc and ORS supplementation in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat, BCC projects for demand generation for DAZT Program in Bihar and Gujarat, etc.
He has been a Lead Consultant for several State Governments and supported development for Reproductive and Child Health Programs and the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). He has the state head for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Gujarat and Rajasthan. As the India Representative of the HIV/AIDS Alliance UK, he initiated the establishment of its operational base and processes for operation in India. He has also served as General Manager, Aga Khan Health services, in India.
Aravind has Masters Degrees in (MA) Economics, Management (MBA) in Operations Management and Doctorate (PhD) in Health policy, planning and management from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. He has successfully completed certificate and specialization courses in Hospital Management from Boston University, USA and Health Management from Mahidol University, Thailand. He has contributed to several national and international forums and has several publications to his credit.
