Anil Kumar Sukumaran

Anil is a passionate development professional carrying rich 23 years Program Management experience in Public Health, Poverty and Livelihood projects. He is a science graduate with a mastes in Social Anthropology (University of Mysore: 1993) and M.Phil in Planning and Development (IIT Bombay, Mumbai; 2000) and an MBA in Disaster Management from Centre for Disaster Management Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. He worked in Pondicherry University, Pondicherry (Andaman Tribal and Ecology Project); Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore (Assistant Director); SOCHURSOD, Tirupati (Program Coordinator); Development Alternatives (State Anchor – PACS, Bihar), Delhi; Mamta Health Institute for Mother and Child, Delhi (Assistant Director); Madhya Pradesh Technical Assistance and Support Team (MPTAST), UNICEF Consultancy (State Planning Consultant), UNDP Consultancy (National Consultant), Anuvidyut Private Limited (Advisor- BD & OD, ISO 9001). Anil implemented/researched in wide varieties of projects/thematic areas viz., RCH, MCH, RTI/STI  Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS, Paediatric AIDS and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT). He has knowledge and experience of working with ICDS, NRHM, RCH and NACO projects.

As a trained Anthropologist, Anil has a taste for qualitative and quantitate research in various social, economic, health and disaster and development research. He started his career doing tribal and ecology research for Union Ministry of Environment and Forests; conducted rural research for the Multi-Sectoral Development (educational and economic) Plan for the Religious Minorities for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. He has been involved in behavioural research since 1993 which adds to 10 years research experience and  have hands-on experience of administration, data analysis, and offer excellent handholding support to colleagues, partners, and other clientele. He was involved in assessment, monitoring, evaluation and review of projects. He has strong computing and analytical skills besides proficiency in data analysis packages (SPSS, ANTHROPAC & ATLAS Ti). He is innovative and open to learning new skills, computer software, flexible to accommodate business needs, reliable and hardworking. He is a multi-linguist, able to communicate in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. He has been contributing to various technical/Policy papers, request/call for proposals and concept papers. He adores team work; worked/ managed multi-disciplinary teams and provided excellent handholding support to colleagues and stakeholders.

Key work interests include Technical Support, Research and Evaluation support to Disaster Management, Development projects, Health projects, Technical support to School Safety and Security, Disaster Resilience, Child Health and Nutrition, Maternal Health, ARSH, HIV and AIDS projects.
